The Livestock Markets were mixed today, with the Fats and Feeders both setting new contract highs. August'25 Live Cattle were 4.07 ½ higher today and settled at 219.97 ½. Today's high was 220.25 and that is the new 1-month and contract high as well. Today's low was 216.07 ½ and the 1-month low is 207.70. Since 6/6 August'25 Live Cattle are 1.10 higher or ½%. The August'25 Feeders shot higher today. August'25 Feeder Cattle were 5.40 higher today and settled at 319.12 ½. Today's high was 319.45 and that is the new 1-month and contract high as well. Today's low was 314.05 and the 1-month low is 300.05. Since 6/6 August'25 Feeder Cattle are 8.97 ½ higher or almost 3%. The Hogs traded lower again today. August'25 Hogs were 32 ½ cents lower today and settled at 106.77 ½. Today's high was 107.82 ½ and the 1-month and contract high are 113.37 ½. Today's low was 106.45 and the 1-month low is 105.50. Since 6/6 August'25 Lean Hogs are 2.62 ½ lower or more than 2%. The Fats and Feeders once again made new contract highs today, just 1-day after a 25% tariff was placed on Japan and South Korera yesterday. Those two countries buy a large percentage of beef from the US. The US Southern border was reopened to Cattle from Mexico yesterday, but it was only at one port of entry. They plan on opening several more ports of entry to Cattle over the next few weeks. Today, US Cattle groups are lobbying the USDA to keep the border shut, as slaughter numbers continue to fall. I am hearing more and more heifers are being held back. According to BEEF Daily, “April's figures revealed that heifers in feedlots experienced their largest percentage decrease relative to total feedlot inventories in the past five years”. The Funds have slowly started to liquidate their very large, long position, selling more than 3400 contracts in the Fats, but still long almost 130,000 contracts. The Funds have started selling the Feeders as well, selling around 1,500 contracts, but are still long more than 33,000 contracts. Cattle prices are out of control. If you buy them, please hedge them.

The Grain Markets were all lower today, with the September'25 Corn setting a new contract low. The Beans dropped a few cents today. November'25 Soybeans were 3 ¼ cents lower today and settled at 1017 ½. Today's high was 1024 and the 1-month high is 1074 ¼. Today's low was 1014 and the 1-month low is 1013 ¼. Since 6/6 November'25 Soybeans are 19 ½ cents lower or almost 2%. The Corn Market continued South today. December'25 Corn was 6 ½ cents lower today and settled at 414 ¼. Today's high was 420 ¾ and the 1-month high is 450. Today's low was 413 ¼ and that is the new 1-month and contract low as well. Since 6/6 December'25 Corn is 35 cents lower or almost 8%. The Wheat Market traded a little lower today. September'25 Wheat was ¾ of a cent lower today and settled at 547 ¾. Today's high was 550 and the 1-month high is 594. Today's low was 542 and the 1-month low is 534 ¾. Since 6/6 September'25 Wheat is 21 cents lower or almost 4%. The Corn Market made another contract low in September'25, as the Trade Deal Deadline that was set to expire tomorrow, has now been extended until August 1st. President Trump said that the August 1st date will not be changed again. The European Union and India look close to having a deal done soon, and President Trump said today “Have had really good relationship with China lately” He also stated, “China has been very fair on our trade deal”, so I am reading that as Bullish for the Grains. If all of the ‘big’ Trade Deals get finished in the next 23 days (17 trading days), it should be very Bullish for the whole Agricultural Sector, especially with the Corn just above Contract lows, and the Funds still short more than 155,000 Corn Contracts, and short almost 70,000 Wheat Contracts, and short a huge 86,000+ Contracts of Soybean Meal. I recommend covering any short position you have now and look to get long sooner than later. I have new levels and trades in all of the Grain Markets, and I am happy to share them with you, just hit one of the Links on this page or give me a call. Buy it when you can, not when you have to.
