Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 08/11/2017

Receipts: 3,050    Week Ago: 795       Year Ago: 13,207

    No comparable sales this week for a market comparison. Demand was 
moderate for direct feeder cattle. Most prospective buyers were glued to 
their TV, computer screen or attended the Western Video sale on Monday 
and Tuesday to purchase top quality calves and feeder cattle. The calf 
and feeder cattle market has been active in the reporting regions this 
week even though sharp losses occurred in the CME cattle pits most of the 
week. Slaughter cattle cash trading was active on a lower market. Live 
sales sold 2.00 lower at 116.00 and dressed sales sold 2.00-3.00 lower at 
185.00. Direct prices are current FOB with a 2-3 percent shrink or 
equivalent and with a 10-15 cent slide on calves and 8-10 cent slide on 
yearlings from base weight. Delivered prices include freight, commissions 
and other expenses. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery. Receipts 
this week included 50 percent heifers with all offerings weighing 600
